RECENT READS (SPRING HOLIDAYS)

Friday, 9 October 2015

Hello everyone! My school holidays finished a few days ago and during the two weeks I had off I had a fair bit of time to read so today I thought I would share with you some of the books I read.

If you click on the title of any of the books listed below you will be taken to a Goodreads page where you will be able to read the blurb.

1) The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett:
I'm not sure if I read this book during the holidays or if I finished it the day before holidays started... I have a fantastic memory! Sadly it only really works for song lyrics.
I've actually read this book before but that was back in primary school so I thought I would read it again. I really love how the garden is described in this book and it helped me with an English project I had at the time where part of it was to compose our own Romanticism poem. My poem was highly inspired by The Secret Garden and was about... A garden! Who would've guessed :)

2) The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart:
This book is about four gifted children who go undercover at a school to do stuff... That's all I'm going to say other than it's really good and very easy to read.

3) Help for the Haunted by Hohn Searless:
I didn't like this book very much (mostly due to it's lack of action) however if you like books that come under the genre of thriller/mystery/supernatural then you might like this.

4) The Keepers: Path of Beasts by Lian Tanner:
This book is yet another that is quite easy to read and is the last book in The Keepers trilogy which is all about this city where children are forced to wear chains that connect them to a particular adult working as a Blessed Guardian... or something like that... and there is a weird museum which can only be navigated by thieves and an evil dude who wants to take over. According to the blurb "Museum of Thieves is a thrilling tale of destiny and danger, and of a courageous girl who has never been allowed to grow up—until now."  So if that sounds like something you might want to read click here to find out more about it.

5) The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey by Trenton Lee Stewart:
The second book in the Mysterious Benedict Society is just as good as the first if not better. It isn't as slow as the first book however I didn't find the plot as interesting.

6) Sabriel by Gath Nix (finished on my first day back at school but I'm still going to count it because I read most of this book during the holidays):
I really like this book (however I tend to say that about most books so I'm beginning to think my opinion is untrustworthy) so if you haven't read it then you so should. It's about magic and magic is awesome!

Well that's all friends. If you have read any of these books then leave a comment telling me what you thought about them. If you haven't read any of them what is a good book that you have read recently?

Till next time,
Erin xoxo.

Also thank you Sophie for lending me half the books on this list!
