D.I.Y. Owl Christmas Card

Tuesday, 9 December 2014

I don't know about you but when Christmas time comes around I love making hand made Christmas cards to give to all my friends and family because they're super fun to design and make.

To make this owl Christmas card you will need:

  • 1 sheet of card stock
  • Coloured paper- I used white, red, green and pink
  • A pencil
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • A black Posca pen or some kind of black ink pen.
  • A sheet of magazine paper.

Card template:

The card I made was around 16 (length) by 11 (width) cm.
These templates can be found on my Pinterest account.

Leave it without the hat and it can be a birthday card

Step 1)
Trace the outline of the owl onto your magazine paper and cut it out.

Step 2)
Fold you card stock in half and trace the owl shape you cutout in step 1) on top of it.
At the top of the owl shape trace wider around it so that when you cut out the shape on the card stock the two sides that are connected by the fold you made will stay together instead of becoming two separate pieces.
Step 3)

Cutout two larger circles and two smaller circles to make the eyes of the owl.

Step 4)

Using the same colour you used for the larger circles cutout two squished semi circle type shapes to act as the owls wings.
And now for the fun part...

Draw half circles around the outside of the inner eye circle and draw dots around the edge of the bigger circle.
After that draw the eyes and the beak :)

Step 5)
Now to make the Santa hat.

First draw the outline of the hat onto you red paper.

Cut everything out and glue it all together.
Then glue the Santa hat to the top of the owl.

And your card is finished!

Hopefully this made sense
